Applying for a business loan
Who can apply, what you need, and how the online application works.
Who can apply?
Owners of established businesses in any industry, especially suppliers and distributors who sell to small businesses on terms. You must be 18 or older, and your loan must be fully repaid before you turn 65, so the term you choose (3 to 12 months) has to end before then. Loans range from ₱30,000 to ₱10,000,000. See who we fund for the kinds of businesses we're built for.
What documents do I need?
Just 3 things: the application form, typed online in about 10 minutes with nothing to print (we generate the Loan Application Form from your answers), 1 valid government ID, and your latest 3 months of bank statements. Everything else, such as a business permit, proof of billing, financial statements or an ITR, is optional. Add it now if you have it, or later if we ask. See the full business loan requirements.
How do I apply for a business loan online?
Fill in the online form in about 10 minutes, on your phone or laptop. There is no account or password to create and nothing to print. After you submit, we email you a secure link to confirm your application and upload your ID and bank statements. You can start your application now.
Do I need a business permit or DTI or SEC registration to apply?
Not to apply. A business permit, DTI or SEC registration is optional at the start: add it if you have it, and we'll ask during review if we need it for your application.
How much can I borrow, and for how long?
Financing ranges from ₱30,000 to ₱10,000,000, with terms of 3 to 12 months. We're built for established businesses (typically ₱6M+ in annual sales). How much we can offer depends on our review of your business, including your bank statements and what the money is for.
How do I repay?
Tell us whether you'd prefer to repay weekly, bi-weekly or monthly. Your repayment schedule is set out in your loan documents, so you know what's due and when before you sign.
What is the email link for?
Because there is no account or password, we email you a secure link after you apply. Open it to confirm and continue your application, including uploading your documents. If you need a new link, go to Check my application and enter the email you applied with.
Approval and timing
How quickly we aim to decide, and what happens at each step.
How fast will I get an answer?
After you confirm through the email link and upload your documents, a credit officer reviews your application. We aim to give you a pre-approval within about 1 hour, then a credit officer visits your business, usually within about 2 hours of pre-approval. We aim to give you a final answer within 12 hours. Times are during business hours. Applications that come in at night start at 8 AM. These are our aims, not guarantees. If it's a no, we tell you right away so you can look at other options. If it's a yes, you sign your loan documents and receive your funds. See how our loan process works.
Will I be approved?
We can't promise that, and we don't promise the highest approval rate. What we aim for is a fast, clear decision, because business is hard and opportunities don't wait. Every application is reviewed by a credit officer, and if it's a no, we tell you right away.
Why do you visit my business?
After pre-approval, a credit officer comes to see your business for themselves, usually within about 2 hours of pre-approval. We'd rather see your business than judge it from paper alone. It helps us understand businesses that a checklist would miss.
What if I apply at night?
You can apply online any time, day or night. Times are during business hours. Applications that come in at night start at 8 AM.
Financing options
PO financing, invoice factoring, check rediscounting, credit lines, collateral and business loans.
What kinds of financing do you offer?
6 kinds: purchase order (PO) financing, invoice factoring, check rediscounting, revolving credit lines, collateral-based financing and business loans. You apply for all of them with the same single application and the same 3 things. You don't need to get the product exactly right: pick the closest one in "What kind of financing do you need?" on the form, tell us what the money is for, and we'll match you to the best fit. For some types, we may ask to see the checks, purchase order, invoices or collateral papers during review. Compare them on our financing options page.
What is the difference between PO financing and invoice factoring?
Timing. PO financing helps before you deliver: it funds the goods for a confirmed customer order. Invoice factoring helps after you deliver: it turns invoices you've already issued into cash instead of waiting for your customer to pay.
What is check rediscounting?
If your customers pay you with post-dated checks (PDCs), check rediscounting turns those checks into cash now, instead of waiting for them to clear. We may ask to see the checks during review.
Can I use collateral to get a higher credit line?
Yes. Collateral isn't required to apply, but if you have an asset you'd like to pledge, it can support a higher credit line. Mention it in your application or tell your credit officer, and we'll explain what we need to see. What we can offer still depends on our review of your business. See collateral-based financing.
Costs, safety and your data
How costs are disclosed, how to check we're licensed, and how your information is protected.
What interest rate will I pay?
The interest rate and all charges on your loan are disclosed to you in full before you sign, so you can decide with all the numbers in front of you.
Do I pay anything before my loan is released?
No. Datung never asks for any fee or payment before your loan is released. If someone asks you to pay a "processing," "release" or "insurance" fee first, it is a scam. Learn how to verify us and avoid loan scams.
Is Datung a licensed lender?
Yes. Datung is the business name of Dark Knight Lending, Inc., a lending company registered with the Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC Reg. No. 2024070157507-01) with Certificate of Authority No. 3506. Here is how to check our licence with the SEC.
What is a Community Hero?
Community Heroes are Datung's accredited referral partners. They may introduce you to us, but they cannot approve a loan or change its terms, and they never collect money or documents: you upload your own documents through your own secure link.
